Arsenal will have a tough time competing with Manchester City this season, as Pep Guardiola is contemplating adding another exceptional player to his squad.
Despite struggling for large portions of last season, City look set to recover and launch another assault on the Premier League title in 2025/26.
The north-west outfit have added the likes of Rayan Cherki, Tijani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri to their ranks this summer, all of whom will significantly improve their team.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have signed Viktor Gyokeres, as well as a host of other players, although it’s not yet certain that these additions will drastically improve the Gunners.
Manchester City are being linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma
Alongside Cherki, Reijnders and Ait-Nouri, Manchester City have also signed James Trafford.
Trafford was outstanding in the Championship for Burnley last campaign, and the Citizens subsequently activated the buy-back clause in his contract.
The perennial title contenders view the Englishman as a potential long-term successor for Ederson, who turns 32 this month.
However, City could yet sign another goalkeeper this summer, who would undoubtedly usurp both the Brazilian and Trafford in the pecking order at the Etihad.
According to Italian publication La Stampa, Guardiola wants to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Donnarumma has been cast aside by PSG this summer, with the French giants replacing him with Lille number one Lucas Chevalier.
The Italian is subsequently available on the market, and attracting interest from City, as well as a handful of other clubs across Europe.

Donnarumma was excellent for PSG against Arsenal in the Champions League last season.
The shot-stopper made some remarkable saves across both legs of the semi-final tie, including a ‘phenomenal’ stop from Martin Odegaard and another from a curling Bukayo Saka effort.
Saka’s shot was the latest in a long-standing battle between him and Donnarumma, which dates back to the Euro 2020 final at Wembley four years ago.
The England international stepped up to take a decisive penalty in the shootout, which was saved by the PSG keeper.
While Saka did score against Donnarumma at the Emirates in a League Phase game last season, generally the Arsenal talisman hasn’t been able to get the better of his Italian counterpart.
For this reason, the 23-year-old won’t be delighted when seeing news that his nemesis could end up playing against him twice next season in the Premier League.
