Cristhian Mosquera’s stock has shot up since he joined Arsenal last summer.
The young Spaniard was always highly rated in Spain when he was at Valencia, and he was linked with a few top clubs too.
However, Arsenal managed to sign Mosquera for just £13 million thanks to Andrea Berta, and that is right up there with their best bargains in years.
The defender’s performance for Spain against Egypt shows why.
Arsenal signed Cristhian Mosquera for just £13m. How much is he worth today?
Cristhian Mosquera impresses for Spain against Egypt
Cristhian Mosquera received his maiden senior Spain call-up for this international break, and he made his first appearance off the bench against Serbia at the weekend.
On Tuesday, the Arsenal defender made his full debut, starting alongside Dean Huijsen and in front of his Gunners’ teammate David Raya.
The game ended 0-0, which is not what Mosquera would’ve wanted, but his personal performance was absolutely fantastic.
The 21-year-old had 109 touches of the ball and completed 101 out of his 103 attempted passes, maintaining a stunning 98 per cent passing accuracy. He also created three chances despite starting as a centre-back.

Defensively, Mosquera made three ball recoveries, a clearance and won 100 per cent of his duels. He also wasn’t dribbled past a single time in the entire game.
Sofascore gave the Arsenal man an 8/10 rating, the joint-highest of any Spain player who stepped onto the pitch against Egypt on Tuesday night.
To do what Mosquera did on his first-ever start for his country is truly remarkable, and it still baffles us how Berta got him for just £13 million.
This is a bargain that will be talked about for many, many years.
Agree or disagree: Cristhian Mosquera will be as good as William Saliba in four years
Cristhian Mosquera could become one of the best defenders in the world
Mosquera has mostly been outstanding for Arsenal since he moved to North London last summer.
The Spaniard has filled in for both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at times, while Mikel Arteta has even used him as a right-back on a few occasions.
Mosquera has been excellent almost every single time, which is very impressive on its own, considering that this is his first year in England.
What makes it even better is the fact that he is still only 21 years old, which means he will only get better in the coming years.
By the time Mosquera reaches Saliba’s age, we think he will be up there with the best defenders in the world, which is really exciting if you’re an Arsenal fan.
