Arsenal and Liverpool have become bitter rivals in recent years.

The Gunners finished above the Reds in back-to-back seasons, but they were then beaten to the Premier League crown in the 2024/25 campaign.

Fans of the two clubs often have a go at each other on social media, trying to claim bragging rights over every little thing that happens.

Now, Arsenal have done something that will not just upset Liverpool but will also make two Manchester United legends really happy.

Arsenal are hijacking Liverpool’s move for Will Wright

Arsenal have been working hard to improve their academy in recent years.

Per Mertesacker has done a tremendous job already, and he is looking to add more talent from elsewhere to make the club’s youth setup even stronger.

After the success of the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal know that they can save millions on the market if they develop their own elite talents.

Following the exit of Chido Obi to Manchester United, Arsenal have been looking at young strikers for their academy, and it looks like they have found one.

The Sun reveal that Arsenal look set to win the race to sign Salford City striker Will Wright.

Liverpool have been pushing to sign the 17-year-old and even tabled a £100,000 bid. But, Arsenal have blown the Premier League champions out of the water with an offer of £250,000 plus add-ons.

For those who don’t know who Wright is, he is a striker for Salford City who scored over 40 goals for their academy last season. He even made his League Two debut in the 2024/25 campaign.

If you are an Arsenal fan, you should be excited about young Wright — just look at some of his goals in the video below.

David Beckham and Gary Neville will be delighted with what Arsenal have just done

David Beckham and Gary Neville are among Manchester United’s greatest-ever players, and they are also co-owners of Salford City.

Both of them will want to do what’s right for their club, but being Manchester United through and through, we’re sure that a part of them wouldn’t have wanted to sell one of their brightest talents to Liverpool.

Arsenal hijacking the Reds’ move for Wright would’ve been music to Beckham and Neville’s ears — not just because they are set to earn more money but also because they will not have to sell the player to Liverpool, a team they have no love for.

As for Arsenal, if Wright shows even a glimpse of the ability, flair, and charisma that another Wright — Gunners legend Ian — brought to the club all those years ago, they will be absolutely delighted.
