It was going to be difficult for Eberechi Eze to replicate his performance level against Tottenham when Bayern Munich visited.

Eze scored a hat-trick against Spurs to properly announce himself as an Arsenal player, giving him big shoes to fill against Bayern Munich.

Though the playmaker didn’t add to his goal tally against the Bavarians, he was responsible for the third goal, setting up Gabriel Martinelli to expose Manuel Neuer.

Eze didn’t earn the headlines, as Declan Rice was Arsenal’s best performer against Bayern, but it was the summer signing who actually caused the opposition the most problems.

Bayern Munich couldn’t handle Eberechi Eze

It hasn’t taken Eze any time at all to get familiar with the Champions League, having only made his debut on matchday one.

Against Bayern, he certainly showed his class, despite the fact that other members of the Arsenal squad are occupying the spotlight.

The numbers reveal that, while others got on the scoresheet and generated attention, it was Eze who Bayern couldn’t cope with.

No Arsenal player was fouled more times than Eze during his time on the pitch, being fouled three times.

We knew heading into the game that Eze is hungry for more goals, but what we saw against Bayern was the England international taking on the role of key creator.

It was another top performance from Eze, one that won’t make the headlines as he did against Tottenham, but one that will certainly keep his confidence intact ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster.

Bayern Munich were caught out by Eze

For the second time this season against a European giant, Eze assisted Martinelli with a pinpoint ball over the top.

How many goals will Eberechi Eze score for Arsenal this season?

Even Bayern Munich were impressed with how the 27-year-old set up Martinelli for the goal, as Neuer himself approved of Eze’s pass.

“First of all, the pass was good,” Neuer told BILD in the mixed zone.

He then doubled down on his thoughts about Eze’s long ball, “The touch was simply crucial, and the pass was good. I just couldn’t get to it.”

It was a sensational ball from Eze to catch Bayern out, resulting in him recording another goal contribution for the Gunners, taking his tally to nine this season.
