Jamie O’Hara must be feeling a bit silly after his comments on Arsenal star Eberechi Eze backfired.

The former Crystal Palace man has never been a regular starter for the Three Lions, but he is more than capable of doing a job when called upon.

On Thursday against Serbia, Eze was brought on as a substitute by Thomas Tuchel, and the Arsenal man scored a stunning goal.

Just hours before his strike, O’Hara made a big claim about Eze.

Jamie O’Hara’s comments on Arsenal star Eberechi Eze backfire

Tottenham fan Jamie O’Hara often has a lot to say about Arsenal.

The former Spurs midfielder loves making controversial statements, but more often than not, he ends up looking embarrassed.

That happened again on Thursday.

During the day on Sky Sports, O’Hara claimed that Eberechi Eze will not make the England World Cup squad because he hasn’t played well at Arsenal.

“Eze, for me, is not going to the World Cup. If you’re looking at the players that are going to go, I don’t think Eze gets in the squad,” he said.

“If you’re going to cut it down, he’s going to take Rashford, he’s going to take Anthony Gordon. He likes pace on the wings, so there are your two left wingers.

“For me, Eze doesn’t get in the team. He is not performing well at Arsenal.”

Just hours later, the Gunners’ number 10 came on as a substitute and scored an absolute screamer to help England beat Serbia 2-0.

That has boosted his chances of making the England World Cup squad and has also left O’Hara looking a bit silly because of his comments.

The one reason why Eberechi Eze needs to be in the England World Cup squad

Eze is unlikely to be a guaranteed starter in the England squad if he goes to the World Cup.

The 27-year-old has players ahead of him on the left as well as in attacking midfield, which is why there is a debate over whether he should be in the squad.

However, Eze’s goal against Serbia showed exactly why he should travel to the States next summer.

The Arsenal star has a certain X-factor that most other players don’t. He is capable of producing magical moments out of nothing, which is exactly what you need in a knockout tournament.

O’Hara is completely wrong to suggest that Eze should not be in the England World Cup squad. We are convinced that Tuchel will be of the opposite opinion.
