Eberechi Eze is settling in very nicely at Arsenal.
The England international has been one of the best players in the Premier League for a few years now, and he was due a big move away from Crystal Palace.
Tottenham seemed like they were going to sign Eze, but Arsenal hijacked the deal at the last minute and brought him to the red side of North London.
Eberechi Eze shows he has fully embraced Mikel Arteta at Arsenal
Eberechi Eze started for Arsenal against West Ham United on Saturday.
The 27-year-old got the nod alongside Martin Odegaard in midfield, and that raised the excitement levels at the Emirates before the game.
The Norwegian went off injured, making the former Crystal Palace man the sole attacking midfielder in the side, and he showed some positive signs.
Goals from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal the win, and Eze, despite missing a sitter in the game, was a happy man in the end.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the victory, Eze posted a few pictures of himself with the caption: “Vamos!”
That is Mikel Arteta’s signature quote to get his players ready for the game. Arsenal fans even have a ‘vamos’ banner at the Emirates in support of their manager.
Now, Eze’s post shows that he has fully bought into Arteta. The gaffer’s influence on him is clear.
One of Arsenal’s other Spaniards, Mikel Merino, was impressed too and commented: “Nice Spanish bro!”
Arsenal fans could be about to get their Eberechi Eze wish
Eze has played both as an attacking midfielder and out wide since joining Arsenal.
There has been a big debate over the England star’s best position. Arsenal fans have been adamant that Eze should play as a number 10 and not as a winger.
Now, they could get their wish.
Arsenal have confirmed that Odegaard has suffered an MCL injury. It’s unclear how long he will be out, but he has withdrawn from international duty.
If the Gunners’ skipper is sidelined, Eze would be the obvious choice to replace him in attacking midfield, and that could bring the best out of him.
