Erling Haaland wouldn’t have liked what he saw from Arsenal’s win over West Ham United.
The Gunners took control of the Premier League table after beating West Ham, with the result made to look even better after Liverpool’s defeat.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be delighted to head into the international break in pole position, but the afternoon at the Emirates wasn’t all rosy.
Arsenal’s injury list became a talking point, as Martin Odegaard was hauled off once again before half-time due to a knee injury.

Erling Haaland won’t like that Martin Odegaard made Premier League history against West Ham United
After Odegaard’s ‘phenomenal’ display against Olympiacos, there was great excitement around what the midfielder would produce against West Ham.
Things ended far from as hoped for the Norwegian, who, after trying to carry on playing, was forced to be substituted on the half-hour mark.
The substitution was something that has become routine at the Emirates this season, as in the previous three Premier League games at the ground, Odegaard has been hooked due to injury before half-time.
Odegaard’s substitution also wrote him into Premier League history, as it was the first time ever that a player had been substituted off before half-time in three consecutive Premier League starts.
It’s unwanted history for Odegaard, but also for another Premier League superstar, as Erling Haaland will be concerned ahead of the international break.
During the September international break, Odegaard said it’s a ‘dream’ to play with Haaland, as the pair combined multiple times to Norway’s delight.
The idea of not having his international teammate to create chances over the upcoming October break will undoubtedly be frustrating for Haaland.

Haaland’s prediction about Odegaard was right
In Norway, there’s optimism around Odegaard’s fitness heading into the break, which will be music to the Manchester City star’s ears.
Odegaard and Haaland are Norway’s poster boys, leading Stale Solbakken’s side closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Though the pair have never played together at club level, their chemistry for Norway is there for all to see.
The chemistry between the two players hasn’t come as a surprise, as five years ago, Haaland predicted that his partnership with Odegaard would only grow.
“It’s nice to play with Odegaard. It will only get better in the years to come. We are still young,” Haaland told TV2 [11th October 2020] after Norway’s 4-0 win over Romania.
Norway face a World Cup Qualifier clash with Israel during the October break in play, with Stale Solbakken and Haaland desperate to have Odegaard fit and ready to contribute.
