As good as Bruno Guimaraes is, he is not a long-term option because of his age.
The Brazilian will turn 29 during the upcoming campaign, and he is only likely to be able to play at the highest level for a few more years.
For that reason, Arsenal are unwilling to pay crazy money to sign Guimaraes, and rightly so. It simply does not make much financial sense.
An alternative Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta should look at is Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga, who could be up for sale.
The Guardian reveal that the Galacticos could sell the talented Frenchman for a fee between £42 million and £51 million.
That is an absolute bargain for a player of his quality and potential, and he is definitely someone Arsenal should be looking at if they can’t land Guimaraes.
Why Eduardo Camavinga would be a better long-term signing than Bruno Guimaraes for Arsenal
Guimaraes would elevate the level of Arsenal’s squad instantly and keep it at a high level for at least the next three years.
That makes him a good signing, but Camavinga could do the same for another decade.
The Real Madrid star is still only 23 years old, has played over 300 games for club and country already and is extremely versatile as well.
Throughout his career, Camavinga has played as a six, eight, left-back, left-wing and even on the right flank for his clubs.
That is what makes him a better signing for Arsenal, and the fact that he could be available for around £50 million makes it a no-brainer to get him.
