It is being reported that Arsenal are looking at signing Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, with the fee around £75m, which is a somewhat hefty price tag.
Arsenal struggled going down the left-hand side last season, and as current winger Gabriel Martinelli faces an uncertain future, the Gunners are now seeking alternatives elsewhere.
A left winger is high up on the list of positions they’re looking at. That includes Brazilian speedster, Rodrygo.
Rodrygo has been sensational for Real Madrid but has struggled to start matches, especially since the signing of Kylian Mbappe.
So with that being said, is the fee too much? Potentially, so here are three other, cheaper alternatives for Mikel Arteta.
Takefusa Kubo

The 24-year-old Japanese winger has been a key player for Real Sociedad and has bags of experience for his age.
The winger already has 195 La Liga appearances, scoring 27 goals and getting 18 assists in that time.
Kubo has a very creative style of play that would link well with midfielder Martin Odegaard. His high dribble success rate would make him a nightmare for defenders in the Premier League.
With a release clause of £50m, he is an affordable option that would give Martinelli some competition for his starting spot going into the 25/26 season.
Bryan Mbeumo

Mbeumo is coming off another impressive season for Brentford, where he registered 20 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances.
With another incredible season under his belt comes the interest for the top sides in Europe, with Manchester United and Newcastle being heavily linked to him.
Mikel Arteta should be considering Mbeumo as a potential option, as he is Premier League proven, and with multiple seasons in the top flight.
It is also being reported that his transfer fee is set at £65m, which is £10m cheaper than Rodrygo’s. The Cameroonian, however, does look Manchester United-bound.
Kaoru Mitoma

Kaoru Mitoma has been one of Brighton’s standout players since joining in 2022. His electric pace and dazzling footwork have made him one of the most entertaining wingers in the Premier League, contributing 20 goals and 17 assists in 88 appearances.
At 28, Mitoma is slightly older than many of the high-profile wingers on the market, which could work in Arsenal’s favour. Despite some inflated valuations in the past, a deal in the region of £40m now seems more realistic.
Compared to someone like Rodrygo, Mitoma would likely be a cheaper option and already has proven Premier League experience – two key factors that could make him an attractive fit for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
