Arsenal have their eye on a number of potential striker signings ahead of the summer.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new number nine, with injuries and inconsistency from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz prompting the Emirates hierarchy to target this area of the pitch.

Alexander Isak is Mikel Arteta’s dream signing, while Arsenal have been monitoring Benjamin Sesko for some time.

Meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a priority target over the last two weeks.

Liam Delap is available for £40 million if Ipswich Town get relegated

One man who has vaguely been linked with a switch to N5 is Ipswich striker Liam Delap.

The young striker is enjoying an impressive debut campaign as a Premier League regular, scoring 12 goals in 29 starts for the Tractor Boys.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United lead the race to sign Delap, although Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester City are also in the reckoning.

Arsenal aren’t mentioned, although they ought to be given the purported price it would take to pry the 22-year-old away from East Anglia.

The publication indicate that if Ipswich are relegated back to the Championship, then the striker will be available for just £40 million.

Kieran McKenna’s side currently sit in 18th, 12 points behind Wolves in 17th, with seven games left to play.

Arsenal should sign Liam Delap instead of other transfer targets

While the players Arsenal are being prominently linked with are talented, there are question marks around all of them.

Isak is likely to cost a fortune, while both Sesko and Gyokeres also won’t be cheap and are both risky moves given their relative lack of experience at the highest level.

As for Delap, the Englishman is likely to be available for a reasonable price, whilst he’s shown himself to be capable in the Premier League already.

Physically impressive, effective at holding the ball up and an emphatic finisher, the former Manchester City man has all the raw ingredients to thrive in a top team.

He’d be able to develop and share minutes with Kai Havertz for the next few seasons, with a view to him making the position his own in the long-term.

With some elite coaching and nurturing, Delap has the potential to become one of Europe’s best strikers, while he’s already at a level where he can make an impact.

Saving Arsenal millions, they’d then be able to invest heavily in a top class winger.

It’s a no-brainer for the Gunners.
