Arsenal told they must pay £150m to sign striker transfer target in January amid PSG battle

Arsenal’s January transfer window preparations have seen them quoted a huge fee for one striker target heading into the market.

It comes as the Gunners continue their hunt for a new centre-forward, having struggled to land a clinical option in recent windows.

Plenty of different links have popped up surrounding who could be the next big striker signing at Arsenal, with several big names.

The problem Mikel Arteta faces is two-fold though, one being the actual player they pick and the second being the difficulty of the January market.

While a deal isn’t impossible in the winter window, one move certainly seems unlikely after the Gunners were quoted a fresh transfer price for one target.

Arsenal told huge Alexander Isak transfer price

Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for Alexander Isak, with the Newcastle star having been a target for quite some time.

The Gunners were keeping tabs on the Swedish striker back in his Real Sociedad days but missed out on sealing a move due to the Magpies swooping instead.

With an impressive transition to the Premier League, Alexander Isak has been courting the interest of top clubs once again.

If Arsenal are to land the forward though, a deal in January would come at a substantial cost to their budget.

That’s because, according to the Telegraph, Newcastle want over £150million to let Isak leave in the coming window.

Arsenal are claimed to be joined by PSG in the race for his signature, though a deal at that price would signify a Premier League record.

Isak has just over three years remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park, which gives plenty of strength to Newcastle – even with renewed contract talks slowing in recent months.

How much is Alexander Isak really worth in the transfer market?

While Newcastle are quoting a huge £150million for Isak, the reality is that it’s likely to be a power play to keep him or receive a big fee.

The Sweden international is worth whatever his club believe him to be, however, there is clearly a market that will only buy at a certain rate.

The topsy-turvy nature of the window makes it tough to predict who could go for what amount, but CIES have tried their hand at creating a value tool.

According to their methodology, Isak is worth in the range of roughly £60million-to-£75million, almost half of the quoted amount.

It means Arsenal are unlikely to make a move for that price, but could return in the summer with a different approach.
