Gabriel Jesus has had a nightmare 2025, but things could be about to get better for the Arsenal striker.
Just as Jesus was finding form after a lengthy scoring drought, the 28-year-old suffered a devastating ACL injury.
Though Jesus is stepping up his recovery, he’s not close to returning to Arsenal just yet, making 2026 a very important year for the striker.
There has been talk that Arsenal are ready to sell Jesus, with his former club Palmeiras hopeful of taking him back; however, the forward has one thing on his mind, and that’s redeeming himself under Mikel Arteta.

Gabriel Jesus might be inspired by Carlo Ancelotti’s revelation
It’s not only to make a name for himself at Arsenal that Jesus will want to stay in the Premier League, but also for what the future could hold for him.
The 2026 World Cup is fast approaching, and while the idea of the former Manchester City star making the cut seems out of reach, it’s not entirely unimaginable.
Ahead of the November international break, Carlo Ancelotti explained his selection, as his decision to call up the out-of-form and out-of-favour Richarlison was questioned.
Ancelotti declared that he called the Tottenham striker up simply because he fits the profile his squad is lacking.
“Richarlison has the profile of a reference point in the area, Igor Jesus too,” Ancelotti explained in a press conference, followed by him stating what he’s looking for.
“We are looking for a central striker with this profile. Richarlison isn’t playing much right now, but as a centre forward, he has scored many goals for the Brazilian national team.”
For Jesus, hearing Ancelotti’s admission might spur him to hit the ground running when he returns to action at Arsenal, as he knows that he can offer more than Richarlison on his day.
There’s a chance that the Brazil coach knows that too, as before his Real Madrid side faced Manchester City in 2023, Ancelotti described Jesus as a ‘very dangerous striker’ that Pep Guardiola had lost.

Jesus’ record for Brazil
Ancelotti is right, as Richarlison has scored a lot of goals for Brazil, netting 20 times for the Selecao in 54 appearances.
It’s only motivation for Jesus, however, as the Arsenal star has scored one goal less than the Spurs striker over the years.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 64 | 19 | 13 |
Those in Brazil know what Jesus can offer when he is fully fit, having racked up an impressive 32 goal contributions for his country in 64 appearances.
It would be incredible for Jesus to make the World Cup, particularly as the last time he played for his country was in November 2023.
You’d have to go back to June 2022 to revise the last time that Jesus scored for Brazil, but his fortune could change should he return to action with a bang.
Ancelotti knows what he needs, and so does Jesus, who now has additional motivation to make an impact when he returns from injury.
