Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes should both be annoyed to hear that Bernardo Silva is one of the new top contenders for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

For the majority of the season, Rice and Gabriel have both been two of the leading contenders for the award, but Silva could swoop in at the last moment to win it.

On The Overlap, Roy Keane named Silva as his Player of the Season; meanwhile, Gary Neville picked Bruno Fernandes, but had Silva ahead of Rice.

Arsenal Insider readers voted the Brazilian defender as the Gunners’ best player, but now he could end up missing out on the actual Premier League Player of the Season award.

Silva has been driving City’s recent push for the Premier League title, and he is now being spoken about as one of the top contenders for the best player award.

Bernardo Silva could steal Player of the Season from Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes

Bernardo Silva could end up stealing the Premier League Player of the Season right from under the nose of Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Portuguese midfielder has shown his class over recent months and is a big reason why City are now sitting top of the Premier League table.

After announcing he will be leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, the 31-year-old has really locked in.

The veteran midfielder has played in a deep-lying playmaker role for the Citizens and seriously impressed in each of City’s last five victories.

Silva has been linked with a move to Arsenal, and actually, he has proven why his quality and experience could be amazing at the Emirates Stadium.

Previously, more experienced signings like Raheem Sterling and Willian have not worked out well under Mikel Arteta, but Silva could be different.

However, right now, Rice and Gabriel should be fuming that he is being discussed as one of the hot favourites to win the Premier League Player of the Season award.

Despite his recent form, the midfielder has not been at his best across the whole season, whereas the Arsenal duo have.

Snatching the award at the final hurdle would be a real crushing blow for both Arsenal players at this stage of the season.
