Gabriel Magalhaes will be delighted after David Ornstein broke some significant Arsenal news on Thursday morning.

The Brazilian has been a huge part of Mikel Arteta’s team in recent years, helping lead the Gunners from mid-table mediocrity to perennial title challengers.

After five years in North London, Gabriel signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal over the summer, committing his future to Arteta’s project.

While he’s been outstanding, the former Lille man hasn’t made the Gunners’ defence the best in the world by himself.

Gabriel will be buzzing after hearing William Saliba is set to sign new Arsenal contract

Gabriel and William Saliba have formed a formidable partnership at the heart of Arsenal’s defence across the last three seasons.

The pair arguably make up the best centre-back duo in world football, and it was imperative to the Gunners that both re-signed and commit their long-term futures to the North London club.

Gabriel did so in the summer, and it now appears that Saliba is set to follow suit.

According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, the Frenchman has agreed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.

The 24-year-old had entered the final two years of his previous deal and had interest from Real Madrid, but opted to remain in N5, with his new deal expected to be announced in the coming days.

Gabriel will undoubtedly be extremely happy to see that his partner in crime is remaining at the Emirates for the foreseeable future, with the pair now primed to lead Arsenal to major silverware.

Saliba’s new deal is expected to run until 2030.

Gabriel and Saliba spoke to each other about their Arsenal futures over the summer

While Gabriel will be over the moon about Saliba’s commitment, he won’t be surprised.

According to HandofArsenal, the Brazil international and the France international had multiple discussions about their future during the summer.

The two players agreed that they would remain in North London together to win major honours and to make history.

This overwhelming commitment to Arsenal will be music to Gunners’ supporters ears, particularly given some would certainly have been afraid of losing Saliba to Real Madrid.

Bukayo Saka remains locked in contract talks and is expected to follow Saliba and Gabriel by signing a lucrative fresh deal with his boyhood club.
