Arsenal are now strangers to letting star talents leave the club too soon, yet one Hale End prospect could make Mikel Arteta suffer in the new season.

Amario Cozier-Duberry was regarded as one of Arsenal’s most exciting youngsters, with the teenage winger likened to Bukayo Saka, after tearing up the game for the Gunners at youth level for the past few years.

Yet news broke this summer that the 19-year-old will be leaving Arsenal at the end of his contract, with the Gunners trying and failing to get Cozier-Duberry to renew his current deal, with the prospect of being with the first-team not enough to keep the attacker in north London.

And the attacker’s transfer decision since leaving Arsenal could come back to haunt Arteta next season.

Brighton & Hove Albion announce Cozier-Duberry signing

As per their official website, Brighton & Hove Albion are the side who have won the race to sign Cozier-Duberry, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the teenage attacker will be immediately integrated into the Seagulls first-team.

Given the incredible track record the South Coast Premier League side have with developing young players, there’s good reason to believe that Cozier-Duberry could find his footing at Brighton and one day become a regular for Fabian Hurzeler’s side

Indeed, with Arsenal’s track record of letting youngsters leave consisting of the likes of Serge Gnabry and Donyell Malen, the odds of Cozier-Duberry making it at Brighton feel very high, such is the 19-year-old’s talents and potential.

And for Arteta, the Saka-like winger becoming a hit at the Amex Stadium could become a painful reminder of what Arsenal could have had if Cozier-Duberry decided to stay with the Gunners this summer.

Arsenal have to clear a pathway for Hale End prospects to make the first-team

Hale End has had a truly impressive track record of late for Arsenal, with Saka one of the best attackers in the world with Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe all first-team members under Arteta.

Yet with how few debuts the Basque coach has actually handed out to academy prospects in the last two seasons, it’s clear that the pathway between Hale End and the senior squad is becoming more narrow.

Indeed, this could be down to Arsenal’s own success, with the Gunners now one of the best clubs in the world, yet if the north London side want to keep their academy pipeline alive, they need to start clearing the pathway for youngsters to break into the first-team, something Cozier-Dubbery clearly didn’t see.
