How Manchester City’s January spending spree could help Arsenal to win the Premier League
Manchester City splashed the cash in January by acquiring four players in forward Omar Marmoush, defenders Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov and Porto midfielder Nico Gonzalez.
The Gunners had been interested in Marmoush themselves at the start of the window and Arsenal ‘sounded out’ defender Vitor Reis back in November.
Guardiola’s side host Liverpool on the 23rd February in a fixture that could be crucial in determining the outcome of the Premier League title – Arsenal need Liverpool to start dropping some points.

The acquisitions of Marmoush and Gonzalez in particular will excite Arsenal fans, the Egyptian forward is lively and has an eye for goal, whilst Gonzalez brings with him a reputation as a strong, physical midfield presence.
Mikel Arteta and his side will be hoping the new acquisitions can bring some life back into Man City and can do Arsenal a favour by beating Arne Slot’s side.
Arsenal need to build winning momentum upon return from Dubai
Arsenal know that they have no margin for error in their quest to win their first league title since 2004 and have to target winning their fixtures upon return from Dubai.
The Gunners could sit nine points behind Liverpool when they arrive back in England and that would present Arteta’s men with a mountain to climb.
| Arsenal fixtures | Venue |
| Leicester City | Away |
| West Ham United | Home |
| Nottingham Forest | Away |
| Champions League last-16 opponent | Away |
Arsenal have to take nine points out of nine in the three Premier League fixtures before resuming their Champions League campaign at the beginning of March.
If Liverpool do start slipping up against the likes of City, then Arteta’s side have to be there to capitalise and the closer the gap can get before the end of the season, the more nervy the Anfield side will become.
