It’s no secret that Arsenal want to sign another central midfield player and the door might have just opened up for them to land one of Europe’s best.
The Gunners have Declan Rice set in stone in the middle of the park while Martin Odegaard is often one of the other two picked by Mikel Arteta.
However, with Martin Zubimendi having an inconsistent season and Myles Lewis-Skelly only just emerging as a central midfielder, there is a spot in this Arsenal team for another.
And while the likes of Sandro Tonali have been heavily linked, there is a situation ongoing at Real Madrid right now that might be perfect for the Gunners.
How should Mikel Arteta manage Jurrien Timber’s return for Arsenal?
How many minutes should the defender play vs Burnley, Crystal Palace and PSG…
Arsenal should take advantage of Eduardo Camavinga’s Real Madrid issues
As is pretty much the case every season, there are issues at Real Madrid at the moment.
There is said to be in-fighting among players, namely centred around Kylian Mbappe, while manager Alvaro Arbeloa is set to be removed in place of Jose Mourinho.
Along with those scenarios, there are also reports that Eduardo Camavinga – one of Madrid’s star performers in recent seasons – could be on the move this summer.
Camavinga has been left out of France’s World Cup squad and there is said to be a frustration that his lack of consistent starts for Madrid have contributed to that. Furthermore, Madrid themselves are also looking to evolve the squad and could well listen to offers for the Frenchman.
If that is the case, then Arsenal simply have to get themselves involved in the mix here.

At just 23, Camavinga is the ideal age in terms of the profile of player Mikel Arteta likes to have, while he is also a serial winner.
The midfielder has already won two Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, two Spanish cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the Nations League with France.
That sort of profile and winning mentality – especially at such a young age – does not come on the market too often.
For Arsenal, finding that partner to play alongside Rice regularly and at the same level is vital.
Yes, Zubimendi will be better for a season under his belt but in terms of Camavinga’s ability, experience and profile, the Spaniard is still behind.
Put simply, if this deal is there to be done, then Arsenal cannot ignore it.
