Mikel Arteta’s recent treatment of Eberechi Eze has been rather odd, and it’s time for him to finally give him the minutes at Arsenal he deserves.
Arteta has given Eze just 44 minutes of game time in the Premier League across Arsenal’s last eight fixtures.
Agree or disagree: Eze should get more minutes AND start over Trossard!
The winger found himself stuck on the bench for games against Everton, Brighton, Aston Villa and Bournemouth, before brief cameos against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Man United and now Leeds.
It’s an odd situation, especially given Martin Odegaard’s poor form and Eze recently impressing in the Champions League against Kairat Almaty.
Mikel Arteta must drop Leandro Trossard for Eberechi Eze
It is finally time for Mikel Arteta to drop Leandro Trossard and bring Eberechi Eze back into the starting line-up at Arsenal.
Trossard’s great start to the season looks to be finally drawing to a close as the Belgian now has just one goal in his last 12 appearances.
During the first half of the season, the 31-year-old was one of the Gunners’ most reliable players; however, that now seems to be coming to an end.
The Arsenal boss should now be looking to freshen things up at left wing by bringing Eze back into the team and playing him at left wing.
Arsenal players think Arteta dropped Eze because of his mistake against Villa at the start of December after he allowed Matty Cash to score at the back post.
Ever since, the 27-year-old has not really had much of a look-in since that defeat, with Trossard starting most Premier League matches.
Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match vs Leeds United?
Eze also faces competition from Gabriel Martinelli for the left wing spot, but his display away at Leeds proves he should get more game time.
In just nine minutes, Eze managed eight touches, completed all six of his passes, one dribble and won his one duel away at Elland Road.
Next up for Arsenal in the Premier League is at home to Sunderland, where they will be looking for revenge after drawing 2-2 with them back in November.
Eberechi Eze must take a key lesson from Noni Madueke
Eze must take one key lesson away from Noni Madueke’s performance against Leeds by improving his crossing.
Madueke produced two brilliant assists at Elland Road, once from a corner and the other a wicked cross which Martin Zubimendi headed home.
Arsenal lost Bukayo Saka to injury before kick-off; however, Madueke stepped up and replaced the winger’s deliveries into the box.
Now, Eze must learn to do the same if he is to stand a chance of getting back into the team at the Emirates Stadium.
