Marco Silva’s Arsenal opinion could change thanks to ‘important’ player who Mikel Arteta just praised

Arsenal will be seeking redemption as the Gunners prepare to welcome Fulham to the Emirates.

The return fixture was a trialling one for Mikel Arteta’s side, as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage in December.

It was a frustrating game for the Gunners, who showed minimal conviction in front of goal, a theme that is ongoing in N5.

Arsenal have a boost as Bukayo Saka could start against Fulham however, the Englishman isn’t the only player who could wreak havoc on the Cottagers.

Martin Odegaard can change Marco Silva’s opinion of Arsenal 

14 Arsenal players were on international duty, and very few performed better than Martin Odegaard. 

Arteta’s captain made the headlines for Norway as Odegaard’s teammates praised him for his contributions against Moldova and Israel. 

Having recorded four assists and a remarkable 13 key passes over the two games, Arteta will be eager to see Odegaard perform at a similar level against Fulham. 

By doing so, the Norwegian could be the difference between Arsenal winning the game and being left frustrated, something that happened the last time Fulham were the opposition.

Fulham boss Marco Silva was critical of Arsenal after the draw, commenting on the lack of chances the Gunners created.

“They didn’t create many chances first half. They controlled the ball, they had possession, they had some set-pieces, but they only had one very good chance for Declan Rice, I don’t remember many more, to be honest.”

Arsenal were missing the cutting edge on the day, something Odegaard can restore if the skipper can replicate his international performance level for his club.

What Mikel Arteta said about Odegaard ahead of Fulham

Many have doubted Odegaard’s impact this season, but if there’s one figure who’s stood by the midfielder, it’s Arteta. 

The Arsenal manager was full of praise for his captain ahead of Fulham’s visit to the Emirates, lauding him as ‘incredible’. 

“He’s great, he’s the captain, one of the most important players. His consistency levels are incredible, and it’s a player that defines our way of playing is how I would put it. We believe he is the right role model for the club and the team.”

When in top form, Odegaard can trouble the best of the best, a level that the playmaker must put in motion on Tuesday night.
