Arsenal star Ben White suffered an injury in the game against Wolves.

The England international has had multiple issues over the last year, but fans were excited to see him back in the starting line-up two weeks ago.

However, after Mikel Arteta made the mistake of starting White for the fourth game in a row, the defender pulled up with a hamstring injury.

Jurrien Timber will continue at right-back now, but Arsenal will need somebody as his backup. Marli Salmon could be that player.

What should Arsenal do with Ben White after picking up yet another injury?

Ben White has had no luck in recent times.

Marli Salmon could replace Ben White in the Arsenal squad

Salmon has had an incredible week at Arsenal, and it could get even better now.

The teenager made his senior Gunners debut against Club Brugge in the Champions League midweek. He became only the third 16-year-old in history to make an appearance in the competition.

Arsenal view Salmon as their next big talent after Max Dowman, but he wasn’t expected to get too many opportunities this season.

However, that could change in the coming weeks.

If Ben White is sidelined due to his hamstring issue, Arsenal will need someone to deputise for Timber, and Arteta revealed recently that Salmon can do a job at right-back.

“He can play as a centre-back or as a full-back,” the Gunners boss said after his side beat Brugge 3-0 in Belgium.

It won’t be ideal at all, and we don’t expect him to start any games. But, in fixtures in which Arsenal are leading comfortably and Timber needs a break, Salmon could well come on.

Arsenal have another academy option to play at right-back

The Arsenal academy is up there with the best in the world.

Hale End has helped the Gunners save millions thanks to their development of the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Dowman and now Salmon. Those are the youngsters who have made a great name for themselves already, but there are others too.

One of them is Josh Nichols, who is naturally a right-back.

The 19-year-old has already made his senior debut, and he impressed during Arsenal’s pre-season tour before the start of last campaign.

If Salmon is deemed too young for the Premier League, don’t be surprised to see Nichols get the nod until White is back from his injury.
