Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus picked up yet another injury on Tuesday evening.
Cutting a fine performance short, Gabriel Jesus hobbled off the pitch against Sevilla in the 81st minute last night. The Arsenal man will now be scanned and assessed so that the extent of the damage can be ascertained.
Mikel Arteta is clearly concerned that Jesus could be set for yet another spell on the sidelines. Speaking after the match, as quoted by the club’s official website, the Spanish coach said, “we’re really sad because he felt something in his hamstring, and he had to come off and I’m worried about that.”
Injuries have been a recurring issue for Jesus since his £45 million arrival at the Emirates Stadium from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. For all of his undoubted brilliance, the 26-year-old simply cannot be relied upon to be consistently available.

Arteta must now respond decisively to this state of affairs. There has already been talk of Arsenal needing a new goalscorer. According to The Mirror, Brentford forward Ivan Toney is a key target.
Putting aside any doubts about the quality of Jesus’ finishing ability, his fitness record should provide all the prompting Arteta may need to make a move for a new striker.
If Arsenal are serious about challenging for the Premier League title this season, they need a top-level player who can lead the line week in, week out, and take his chances in front of goal.
Of course, such a player won’t come cheap, but with the scale of the prizes on the line, Arteta must be bold and push to acquire what he needs in the upcoming January transfer window.
Whilst Eddie Nketiah has deputised for Jesus admirably in the past, the Hale End academy graduate is not in the best form himself at the moment, and is not of the quality required to fire Arsenal to major honours.
