The Spaniard ended the Gunners’ 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season, and he was one step away from winning the Champions League as well.
After the defeat to PSG in Budapest, Arteta made it clear to the decision-makers at the club that they have to show ambition quickly.
The Kroenkes and everyone else who call the shots seem to have turned a deaf ear to that demand.

Mikel Arteta’s call for ambition has been ignored by the Arsenal board
When Mikel Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019, the Gunners were nowhere near good enough to challenge for the big trophies.
Yet, within his first year, the Gunners boss won them the FA Cup and Community Shield.
There were ups and downs after that, but Arteta slowly but surely turned Arsenal into one of the best teams in the Premier League and eventually the world.
After doing so, Arteta made a plea to the Kroenkes and the rest of the board.
He said right after the Champions League final: “We will start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level.
“And we’re going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it’s going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
The Community Shield is less than a month away, and so far, Arsenal have only signed Illan Meslier on a free transfer. They have just lost the race to sign Morgan Rogers as well.
Arteta wanted Arsenal to be ‘very ambitious, very fast and very smart’, but unfortunately, they have checked none of those boxes.
That is completely unacceptable after he won them the Premier League title and took them to their first Champions League final in 20 years.

Mikel Arteta must threaten to resign if the Arsenal owners don’t deliver new signings
Arsenal are currently in talks with Arteta over a new contract at the club.
The expectation has been that the Gunners will reach an agreement with their manager comfortably and secure his long-term future at the club.
Arteta, however, should use this as leverage to get what he wants.
After missing out on Rogers, who was his top target, the Arsenal boss should demand huge new signings to be made in the coming days.
The deal for Bruno Guimaraes should be completed, while the champions also need to sign a winger of Rogers’ level – someone like Bradley Barcola would work really well. Arteta should also push for his dream signing – Julian Alvarez.
The message to the board should be simple – get these deals done or forget about the new contract.
That should get the Kroenkes to act because there’s nobody better than Arteta to manage Arsenal right now.
