Arsenal return to the Emirates tomorrow to face Sheffield United, who are still winless in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta has now confirmed that he will be without both midfielder Thomas Partey and striker Gabriel Jesus, who are both absent with injury, and this should open the door for Kai Havertz to return to the starting XI.
Havertz has had an underwhelming start to his Arsenal career, but has shown signs of improvement when appearing off the bench as a striker, particularly when he assisted the winner against Manchester City.
He should return to the lineup against Sheffield United, as this will be the perfect chance for him to gain some confidence, but he should replace Jesus upfront, rather than Partey in midfield.
Havertz needs to start upfront against Sheffield United
The 24-year-old, who joined from Chelsea this summer for a huge fee, has found it difficult in the Premier League since his move from Leverkusen three years ago, and part of his struggle came as he and his club did not know his best position.
This has continued into this season, where he has played both in midfield and as a striker. He has started most of his appearances in midfield, attempting to replace Granit Xhaka, with miserable results.
As a central striker though, it has been a different story. His strength in the air has made him a useful physical presence upfront, and an alternative to Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard.
Havertz could be key against low-block defences

Havertz would essentially operate as a target man, and this could help create more space for wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
His aerial dominance could also be the key to unlocking Sheffield United, who look likely to defend deep, and providing a physical presence can offer Arsenal an option to cross to in the air.
If Havertz can grab himself a first open-play goal for the club against the Blades, it will come at the right time, with Jesus set to miss the next few games, and he will have to step up to replace his attacking output.
