Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta won’t be pleased after seeing what the Premier League have just announced.
The Spaniard’s team are riding high at the summit of the English top flight, six points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
By beating Slavia Prague on Tuesday, Arsenal matched a 122-year-old club record, winning eight consecutive matches in all competitions without conceding.
While everything looks rosy for the North Londoners, Arteta has now been given a reason to be slightly irritated.

Mikel Arteta won’t be happy that Ruben Amorim has won the Manager of the Month award for October
Arsenal enjoyed a spectacular October.
The Gunners played six matches throughout the Autumn month, winning all six, scoring 12 goals and conceding none.
In the Premier League, it was three wins from three for Arteta’s side, as they waltzed into a commanding lead in the title race.
Despite this, the Arsenal boss hasn’t been rewarded with the Manager of the Month in the English first division.
Instead, the Premier League announced on Friday that Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been handed the award, while Bryan Mbeumo won Player of the Month.
The Red Devils matched the Gunners’ record of three wins from three, although they shipped three goals compared to Arsenal’s zero.
While they did find the back of the net eight times, compared to Arsenal’s four, the league leaders’ manager can certainly feel hard done by.
While only a minor loss for Arteta, he’ll certainly be somewhat frustrated that his good work has been left somewhat unrecognised.

Arsenal and Manchester United’s October statistics compared
It’s hard to distinguish between two teams who claimed maximum points from the month.
Amorim has likely been granted the award over Arteta because United’s expectations were lower than Arsenal’s, so they are rewarding the north-west side for exceeding these expectations.
However, when taking a look at the underlying data, it’s clear that Arsenal were in fact the better team in October.
| Statistical Comparison October 2025 | ||
| Stat | Arsenal | Man Utd |
| Matches | 3 | 3 |
| Wins | 3 | 3 |
| Goals Scored | 4 | 8 |
| Goals Conceded | 0 | 3 |
| Expected Goals For | 5.6 | 4.4 |
| Expected Goals Against | 1.4 | 4.6 |
United significantly outperformed their expected goals, scoring eight from 4.4 xG, allowing their results against Brighton and Liverpool to look better than the performances suggested.
In fact, the Red Devils finished the month with a negative xG difference of -0.2, while Arsenal’s xG difference ended as 4.2.
These numbers aren’t necessarily going to be taken into account when votes are made for the Player of the Month award, but they provide some interesting context.
