Noni Madueke made it abundantly clear after Arsenal’s 3-2 win over AFC Bournemouth that the Gunners are bidding to win the Premier League title this season.
Mikel Arteta’s team moved six points clear of Manchester City over the weekend, following their win away at Bournemouth.
Change our mind – Noni Madueke was Arsenal’s best summer signing by an absolute mile… 👀
During his post-match interview, Madueke revealed that Arsenal’s squad are talking about winning the title and that the team must embrace the pressure of being top.
That is quite different from how he responded to questions about Chelsea’s title hopes during last season before his switch across London.
Noni Madueke’s mindset has changed at Arsenal
It’s clear that since moving from Chelsea to Arsenal, Noni Madueke’s mindset has changed, given his response to questions about the Premier League title.
Speaking to the media at the Vitality Stadium, he said: “We talk about it, for sure. You have to talk about it and embrace the pressure that comes with it.”
His response is an indication of the current belief in the Arsenal ranks that this is the season they finally bring the title back to N5.
Fill in the blank: Arsenal will take __ points from their next five PL matches…
Meanwhile, last season, when Chelsea found themselves second in the Premier League in December, Madueke shunted suggestions that the Blues were in the title race.
When asked about whether Chelsea were in the title hunt, Madueke told BBC Sport: “I don’t even know what that is. I don’t think so. We are just competing with ourselves, trying to improve and be better every day.”
Now, his current team are firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season, and he is not shying away from the pressure this time.
Following the weekend’s win, Arsenal fans were worried Madueke was too hard on himself after the winger made it clear he wasn’t happy with his display.
But the 24-year-old looked electric once again for the Gunners, who showed few signs of missing Bukayo Saka, who was sitting on the bench.
Noni Madueke completed most dribbles versus Bournemouth
No player completed more dribbles than Madueke during Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth on the weekend.
The winger completed three of his six attempted dribbles, including one to set up Gabriel Magalhaes’ goal in the first half.
Saka and Madueke look to be getting the best out of each other, with the latter transformed on the pitch following his move from West London to North.
Right now, Saka is the number one option at right wing, but at his best, Madueke can really push to be a starter under Arteta.
