Paul Scholes has made several controversial remarks about Arsenal over the years.

The Premier League legend has often discredited Declan Rice’s abilities, and he has also had a go at Mikel Arteta on several occasions in the past.

Now, Scholes has shared his two cents on Morgan Rogers joining Chelsea instead of Arsenal, and he has used Eberechi Eze’s debut season as a supporting argument.

However, he is factually incorrect.

Paul Scholes’ comment on Eberechi Eze at Arsenal is so wrong

The story of Morgan Rogers joining Chelsea has led to many believing that Arsenal were snubbed.

The Gunners seemed like the frontrunners for a long time, but it is the Blues who struck a £117 million deal and got it over the line.

The truth, as reported by many, is that Arsenal refused to match that fee to sign Rogers. In fact, Ben Jacobs has revealed on talkSPORT that they weren’t even willing to pay over £80 million.

But some people have spun the whole thing as Rogers rejecting Arsenal, and Paul Scholes now thinks the Englishman was right to do so.

The reason? He feels that the versatile attacker wouldn’t play much, like Eze, which is completely untrue because the latter played a lot.

Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast: “I think he (Rogers) has done the right thing going to Chelsea. I think he will play more.

“We’ve just seen Eze go to Arsenal from Crystal Palace. He hasn’t played a lot of football, has he?”

For those wondering, Eze, who was only eligible to play for Arsenal from the third game of the season, played 32 times in the Premier League and 52 times in all competitions.

The 3317 minutes he played were the highest of his entire career, and that game time is despite a calf injury keeping him out of action for a few games.

Scholes is free to think that Rogers will be better off at Chelsea, but saying that Eze didn’t play a lot of football is just absurd and completely untrue.

As for Arsenal fans, they should forget about Rogers and all the noise around the deal. He was just not worth £117 million, and the Gunners were right to walk away.

The focus now should be on who Andrea Berta will sign instead.
