Arsenal will play host to a midweek North London Derby as Tottenham Hotspur visit the Emirates Stadium.

There’s been 300 minutes of action since Arsenal last tasted victory, emphasising the importance of the upcoming North London Derby.

Mikel Arteta is fired up to face Spurs, as he described the meeting between the two rivals as one of the ‘nicest’ games of the season.

Raheem Sterling’s record against Tottenham

There have been ongoing concerns about Arsenal’s attack, with the Gunners’ front line slammed against Manchester United.

Kai Havertz was one player who underperformed and now, Arteta must do what he can to boost the German’s confidence to get him scoring again.

One way the Arsenal manager can do such is by altering his starting XI, something that is destined to happen against Spurs following Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

Raheem Sterling replaced Jesus last time out and now, the winger must be called into action in the North London Derby, which could bring Arsenal great luck. 

Sterling has faced Spurs 25 times in his career, 22 of which came in the Premier League.

In that time, the Englishman scored eight goals and recorded five assists, making for an impressive 13 goal contributions in 25 appearances against the Lilywhites. 

Given what Arsenal need right now, using Sterling as a lucky charm is a real possibility, as the winger has never lost a game he’s scored in against the Gunners’ rivals.

Arteta has already been urged to start Sterling against Spurs, in what could mark the 30-year-old’s first Premier League start at Arsenal since October.

Sterling’s display against Man United earned mixed reviews, with it clear that the winger can offer danger but, his final ball needs some work.

The above comes with confidence, which is something Arteta can install by showing trust in the deadline day arrival in a big game. 

Sterling has a lot to offer and can provide Arsenal with the threat required to cause Spurs problems, which will only benefit him and those around him.

An injection of pace, experience and confidence could deliver the Gunners the three points they so desperately need against Spurs, in what is set to be a thriller in N5.
