Andrea Berta has done a phenomenal job since becoming Arsenal’s sporting director.
The Italian replaced Edu Gaspar at the Emirates, and in his very first window, he signed eight new players for Mikel Arteta.
Along with that, Berta has extended the contracts of Gabriel Magalhaes, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri and William Saliba, while talks are ongoing to renew Bukayo Saka’s deal as well.
Once that is done, Berta has to shift his focus to another big contract – Arteta’s.
Andrea Berta has to start Arsenal contract talks with Mikel Arteta
Arsenal fans are desperate to see Saka pen an extension, and rightly so.
The England international is the face of the club, and Andrea Berta is right to be pushing for an agreement on that front.
All the focus is on Saka’s contract at the moment, so much so that nobody is even talking about Arteta’s future.
The Spaniard last penned a new deal back in 2024. That was a three-year deal, which means he will have just one year left on his contract at the end of this season.
Arteta has done an incredible job at Arsenal, and if things go to plan, the North Londoners will win the Premier League this season.
By then, Arteta would be entering the final year of his deal, which is a situation that the Gunners can easily avoid.
Berta has to start contract talks with Arteta in the coming months, and the best scenario would be seeing him pen a new deal before the turn of 2026.

Arsenal cannot delay Mikel Arteta’s contract extension
Arteta is the reason why Arsenal are challenging for the big trophies today.
The Gunners were in a terrible position when he took charge in December 2019, and the way he has transformed the club is nothing short of incredible.
The Arsenal boss is now one of the best managers in world football, and that is the reason why Berta cannot allow him to enter the final year of his deal.
David Ornstein once revealed that Arteta would be snapped up ‘within seconds’ by one of the biggest clubs in the world if he ever became available.
That isn’t a risk Arsenal should take. Berta and the Kroenkes should do everything they can to secure their manager’s future in the very near future.
