Mikel Arteta will now be looking for a way to replace Emile Smith Rowe in his Arsenal squad as it seems the midfielder is set to leave the club.

Emile Smith Rowe looks to be on the verge of departing from Arsenal in this summer transfer window.

The Hale End academy graduate has fallen down the pecking order in recent seasons, and likely needs a fresh start to get his career back on track, as it has become clear that he is not a central figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Fulham are now pushing to sign Smith Rowe. The 23-year-old would stand a great chance of getting the regular game time he needs at Craven Cottage, and of course such a move would allow him to remain in London, where he was born and raised.

Arteta has hinted that Smith Rowe’s exit is imminent, after the 3-cap England international was not used at all in the Gunners’ recent friendly against Bournemouth.

If the player is allowed to depart the Emirates Stadium, though, he will need replacing.

Three players Arsenal could use to replace Emile Smith Rowe

Ethan Nwaneri

Ethan Nwaneri is one of the most exciting prospects in the Gunners’ Hale End academy system. The 17-year-old has already been afforded two Premier League runouts by Arteta, and could easily be a star of the future.

There is a plan to hand Nwaneri a bigger first team role this season, and he has perhaps already been earmarked as an internal solution to the issue of replacing Smith Rowe.

Eberechi Eze

If Arteta instead opts to turn to the market, then Eberechi Eze would be a perfect fit for his Arsenal side. The Crystal Palace talisman has been hailed as an “incredible talent” by Andros Townsend in the past, as quoted by Goal

The England star would add creativity and goal threat to the Gunners’ midfielder unit, and backs up his ability on the ball with a willingness to work hard off it, which will surely appeal to Arteta. Arsenal are aware that Eze is available for £60 million this summer.

Xavi Simons

Whilst Arsenal have been cautioned that Xavi Simons is still a raw and somewhat flawed talent, the Dutchman is undeniably still a hugely exciting prospect with masses of potential. Like Smith Rowe, Simons offers goal threat and has the ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations.
