Three under-the-radar strikers Arsenal could target following transfer strategy change

Arsenal are in the market for a striker in the summer, but there is now less urgency to add a ready-made attacker to the squad.

The Gunners were linked with several proven forwards including Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen in January, with the two mooted as experienced strikers who could make an immediate impact.

However, Arsenal’s free-scoring form in 2024, which has seen Kai Havertz thrive as a centre-forward, has reduced the need for a striker to come in and start scoring immediately.

It recently emerged that Mikel Arteta will now target a younger profile of striker as a result, with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko linked, but if Arsenal want to avoid paying a premium fee, there are three attackers they could look at who have not yet been linked with a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal could look at John Kennedy of Fluminense

If Edu Gaspar is keen to explore the Brazilian market, he will be well aware of Fluminense striker John Kennedy.

The 21-year-old has been a key figure for the Brazilian giants, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2023, and is continuing to develop as a massive talent within the country.

He scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 50 games in the 2023 campaign across all competitions, but he would represent a huge gamble for Arsenal.

He picked up 17 yellow cards in that time, and whilst he might bring a fierce mentality like others such as Luis Suarez and Diego Costa have in the past, he is something of a raw talent who could either excel in the big league or collapse under pressure like others coming from Brazil have done.

Mohamed El Amine Amoura could be a surprise option for Arsenal

If Arsenal are keen on an under-the-radar, but in-form young striker, then Union Saint-Gilloise attacker Mohamed El Amine Amoura could be a strong surprise option.

The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals in 23 games in the Belgian top flight this season, and ranks as one of the best attackers in Europe’s secondary leagues in several aspects.

The Algerian International excels at dribbling, and also has a creative eye for a key pass in addition to his clinical finishing.

Whilst there would be serious questions over his adaptability to the Premier League, he could be a wildcard if Arsenal decide to move away from big-money centre-forwards to focus on other positions this summer.

Atletico Madrid have a striking sensation on their books in Samuel Omorodion, who is attracting interest after a strong campaign at Deportivo Alaves on loan.

He has scored nine goals in 19 starts for the struggling La Liga side, with his pace and aerial threat standing out, and is an attacker who has the potential to explode.

Atletico are likely to want to keep the 19-year-old, but if Arsenal are willing to sign him, they could test the waters with an offer to bring him in.
