Arsenal have been linked with several strikers ranging from world-class big names to outstanding young prospects ahead of the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add a centre-forward to his squad, with Eddie Nketiah potentially departing, but it now appears that a younger profile of attacker may be targeted.
Arsenal were strongly linked with Ivan Toney, but his age, price and concerns over his behaviour mean a move is now unlikely.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Viktor Gyokeres have been linked as big-money options, but it remains to be seen which striker Arsenal will make their key priority.
David Ornstein gives verdict on Arsenal striker targets
Journalist David Ornstein has now told The Athletic that he does not expect a move for Toney to happen, and has explained the likelihood of a deal for six strikers Arsenal have been linked with before.
“As with most clubs and positions on the pitch, there will be varying preferences internally and Arsenal will need to come to a firm consensus before proceeding. I’m not aware of this happening yet but that’s fairly normal at this stage,” he stated of Arsenal’s plans.
“As previously reported and widely documented, the likes of Sesko and Gyokeres are well thought of. As is Ferguson but the price Brighton would want and the season he has had so far perhaps makes him less likely at the moment.
“I don’t see it being an Osimhen or Toney. There will be other options too. I’ve seen Isak linked and obviously Arsenal went for him in the past, but I don’t have any information on that at this point.”
Can Arsenal rule out any striker targets for now?

Toney can almost certainly be ruled out as an option for the summer window, as there are simply too many red flags over a potential deal.
Osimhen now looks unlikely unless his price tag comes down, given his poor injury record. If he did arrive, he would bring a lot of quality, but the risk is perhaps too high.
Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko look to be key targets, whilst Evan Ferguson is another which may be highly unlikely this summer.
Alexander Isak is an interesting one, as a deal does seem unlikely unless Newcastle are forced into a sale for financial reasons, and given Arteta’s previous admiration for him, he could be a somewhat surprising, but strong option for the summer transfer window.
