Goal’s Charles Watt has reported that Celtic have rejected yet another bid from Arsenal for their star left-back Kieran Tierney. The Gunners have found it difficult to close a deal with the Scottish champions and Unai Emery should be prepared with alternatives if talks completely break down.

Nacho Monreal has majorly been used as centre-back over the last two seasons while Sead Kolasinac’s inconsistency has been a key issue for the Gunners. Emery definitely needs a new left full-back and here are two players who he should consider if they fail to sign Kierney this summer.

Ricardo Rodriguez

The hugely experienced Swiss international would be a fantastic fit for the Gunners if they miss out on Tierney in the coming weeks. Rodriguez will bring in a ton of quality and consistency to Arsenal’s left-hand side and he will offer a lot more than Monreal and Kolasinac can next season.

The former Wolfsburg man possesses an incredible left-foot is an astute set-piece taker. His ability to put in incredible crosses combined with the balance he provides between attack and defence will be a massive positive for Unai Emery’s side next season.

Philipp Max

One of Arsenal’s biggest problem with Kolasinac last season was his inability to deliver the perfect final ball. Signing Philipp Max from Augsburg would be an ideal solution for the Gunners and the German will be considerably cheaper than both Tierney and Rodriguez.

Max’s Augsburg barely managed to stay up in the Bundesliga last season but the full-back was arguably their only shining light in an otherwise horrific season. The 25-year-old possesses all the traits to become a top left-back and a move to a tougher league in England would help him reach his full potential in the very near future.
