Mikel Arteta has taken Arsenal a long way since his first managerial appointment back in December 2019.
Arteta holds the fifth best win percentage after 200 games in the Premier League following his side’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Despite ultimately failing to achieve any domestic success this season, Arsenal are still challenging in the Champions League and face defending champions Real Madrid in the quarter finals.
Joe cole and Martin Keown believe Arsenal can beat Real Madrid and deliver major European success to the Emirates Stadium this season however, one former Gunners defender believes that the club will struggle to win the league with Arteta in charge.

William Gallas believes Arsenal will fail to win Premier League under Mikel Arteta
Speaking on talkSport, former Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea defender William Gallas has revealed how he believes the Gunners will fail to win the Premier League under Arteta.
Gallas stated: “At the moment my answer is no. Because now it’s almost three times that he has finished second. This season Manchester City was not for some reason I think they were tired mentally it was very difficult for the players and this season was the best opportunity to win the league.”
The former French international went on to slam dropped points in games such as Fulham and Everton before the Christmas period and the recent home defeat to West Ham.
Gallas explained: “If you want to be champions you can’t make that mistake and it’s not the first time with Arsenal it’s every season that they make that mistake.”
Arteta will learn from this season’s failures and win trophies
Arteta will be the first to admit that his side have fallen short of their targets this season but will also recognise that his team have had to face much adversity this season.
Red cards and referee decisions have plagued their form whilst the Arsenal injury crisis this season has also had a huge impact on being able to build momentum throughout the campaign.

The way that Arsenal have battled through these hard times however will only serve to be a positive in the future and the emergence of young stars such as Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly as well as ambition in the summer window will mean the club is ready to attack big again next season.
Arteta has proven he is the right man to progress the club in his five years in charge and now he has the opportunity to put himself amongst the Arsenal greats if he can take that next step and win a major trophy.
