Arsenal are confident of sealing a new deal for Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer, with the star entering his final year under contract.

It comes as a huge boost to the Gunners, who have been working hard to tie the Hale End academy graduate down to an extended contract.

While Lewis-Skelly is close to signing a new contract at Arsenal, there is set to be a huge impact on the rest of the team.

There will be plenty of winners and losers for Andrea Berta to take into account, with the balance of the squad to consider.

So, with that said, here’s a look at some winners and losers from Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new potential contract at Arsenal.

Winners from Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new contract

Martin Zubimendi

Martin Zubimendi is preparing to join Arsenal this summer in a deal that could transform the midfielder.

While the Spaniard is set to join a core that includes other central players, he will also have a key role to play with Lewis-Skelly.

The academy star often inverts from left-back into the midfield, helping to create a comfortable base in possession.

If Lewis-Skelly and Zubimendi can create a solid partnership, it could be huge for the future of Arsenal.

Declan Rice

Speaking of midfield partnerships, Declan Rice has already built some chemistry with Lewis-Skelly throughout the season.

The pairing has worked well on the left, and the introduction of the youngster helped his old counterpart enjoy his best season so far.

Hale End academy

Perhaps the biggest winner of the saga will be Hale End academy and Lewis-Skelly himself, who can both point to the deal and his progression as proof that their plan is working.

The 18-year-old has shown that, regardless of age, his quality and attitude have taken him to the very top, and he has been rewarded for it.

Those who follow him in the academy will be looking to make a similar impact in the future.

Losers from Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new contract

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko is facing an Arsenal exit, with the defender struggling for minutes over the past season.

With several players ahead of him in the pecking order, Lewis-Skelly’s deal may only push the Ukrainian international further towards a move away.

Riccardo Calafiori

After a difficult first season with injuries, Riccardo Calafiori is looking to kick on with Arsenal next campaign.

The defender may end up frustrated by the sheer competition in his position, which will only be reinforced further by the new deal for Lewis-Skelly.

Gabriel Martinelli

While Gabriel Martinelli isn’t fighting for a place in the side with Lewis-Skelly, his role does impact him directly.

The winger is often quite isolated on the left wing, partially because of the lack of an overlapping or underlapping presence next to him.

Lewis-Skelly fits the inverted full-back role well, but doesn’t provide the same sort of attacking support that Martinelli clearly needs on the left.
