Arsenal star Calum Chambers spoke to the club’s official website yesterday about his ‘brilliant’ teammate Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivorian has gone from strength to strength since the turn of the year. He has improved massively this term, and his performances over the last few weeks have been absolutely outstanding.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Pepe scored another brace yesterday to help Arsenal complete the double over Brighton. Both goals were brilliant from the former Lille man, and it is safe to say, Chambers was extremely impressed.

Calum Chambers: Nicolas Pepe was brilliant

Asked how good Pepe was, Chambers said: “Brilliant. Brilliant. He was covering me defensively, which is amazing!

“I think he’s improved a lot, he’s a great player and we’ve seen it from the start in the first day of training, we’ve seen his quality, and I think now he’s really starting to show everyone what he can do. We’re all delighted for him.

“Yeah (we’ll see the best of Pepe next season). I think he’s in good form at the minute and he’s been playing really well and scoring good goals and his confidence is high. We’ve seen that all along and we’ve known the quality that he’s had and it’s just really nice to see him show everyone else what he can do.”

The Insider’s View:

Pepe has had a really good season. The Ivorian ends the campaign with 21 direct goal involvements – more than any other Arsenal player.

16 goals and five assists in 26 starts in the Premier League and the Europa League is a stunning return for a winger. It becomes even more impressive when you take into account that Pepe hasn’t started more than four games in a row all season.

Mikel Arteta will have a lot to think about for next season. Pepe has shown what he is capable of when he is given a good run of games. He deserves to keep his place from the start next term, but with Bukayo Saka also battling for the same position, things will get tricky.
