Arsenal loanee Joe Willock has been tearing it up at Newcastle United over the last month or so.
The Englishman cemented his place in the record books yesterday as the youngest player in the history of the Premier League to score in six consecutive games.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Newcastle United fans are absolutely in love with Willock and so is their manager, Steve Bruce. The Magpies boss has been very vocal about his desire to sign the Arsenal man on a permanent deal, and the midfielder has now given him some hope.
Joe Willock: Permanent Arsenal exit is one of my options
He told BBC Sport yesterday: “I’m not sure (about my future). I need to have a conversation and see what the best move for me is. I have made friends for life and made a really big connection with the fans.
“It (leaving Arsenal and joining Newcastle United permanently) is one of my options and I am going to consider it.”
The Insider’s View:
Willock’s comments really are worrying if you’re an Arsenal fan. The 21-year-old has proved his worth at the top-level over the last few weeks, and he certainly deserves a chance at the Emirates next season.
However, Edu and Mikel Arteta could be of the completely opposite opinion.
They may well view Willock as someone whose value has doubled over the last few weeks. That could tempt them to cash in on him this summer, especially if we receive a big offer for him – either from Newcastle or a different club.
Willock will certainly attract a ton of interest from multiple sides in the next two months. He will not be short of offers, but the ball is in Arsenal’s court, and if we’ve learnt anything from our previous transfer blunders, we will not entertain any bids for the Englishman this summer.
