Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Arsenal new boy Ben White has what it takes to be something ‘special’ in the coming years.

It was clear all summer that the 23-year-old was Mikel Arteta’s number one target. Arsenal entered negotiations very early in the summer window and after multiple failed bids, we managed to secure his signature for an eye-watering £50 million. (Sky Sports)

A lot has been said about White’s price tag over the last few weeks. We can’t deny that he has cost us a fortune, but some of the reactions from pundits and former players have been over the top, to say the least.

Jamie O’Hara: Ben White is going to be special

O’Hara, who is almost always against Arsenal, has had a few kind words to say about White. He has claimed that there are a couple of areas he can improve in, but he believes that the Englishman is going to be a special player.

He said on 90min’s YouTube channel: “Ben White! (Arsenal) paid £50 million for him, but I like him.

“I think he’s going to be something special. He’s great on the ball. He has to work on his leadership and his heading ability though.”

The Insider’s View:

White has had a difficult start to life at Arsenal. After a couple of impressive performances in pre-season, he struggled in our opening game against Brentford last month. He tested positive for the virus soon after and that made things a whole lot worse.

Arsenal really missed him against Chelsea and Manchester City, but we’ve been solid since he’s back.

White and Gabriel Magalhaes have the potential to form one of the best defensive partnerships in the Premier League. They compliment each other brilliantly and if they can stay fit for the rest of this season, Arsenal’s chances of success will increase considerably.
