Arsenal legend Tony Adams has had his say about who should take over the captain’s armband at the Emirates after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s time is up.
Adams, an Arsenal skipper for 14 long years, knows what it takes to lead the club. He won 10 major trophies including winning the league in three different decades – a stunning stat that.
The legendary Gunners defender has been keeping a close eye on his former club this season. He has picked out the one player who is an Arsenal captain in the making, but it’s not fan’s choice Kieran Tierney.
Adams told Stadium Astro: “Let’s start with now and for me, I’ve always been a big Rob Holding fan. I think Rob’s got the right attitude. He’s a captain in the making for me.”
“I would like him to get on with it. He has had injuries. I had won four trophies by the time I was 25. I’m not saying it’s my standards, but he has the right attitude at the moment.”
Arsenal Insider’s view:
Rob Holding is really an interesting choice. The Englishman has stepped up his game massively this season.
He is our first-choice centre-back at the moment, and Arteta has been so pleased with his performances that he handed him a long-term contract.
Holding really is a great shout, but Tierney, Hector Bellerin and maybe even Gabriel Magalhaes are strong contenders to take the armband from Auba when he decides to move on.
Thankfully, that’s Mikel Arteta’s headache, not ours, and he still has at least a couple of years, if not more, to decide who succeeds his current captain.
