A couple of months ago, KRC Genk star Paul Onuachu revealed that he is a boyhood Gooner and would love to play for Arsenal one day. (Read here)
As expected, the rumour mill credited the Gunners with an interest in him this summer. The Athletic revealed that Arsenal are battling West Ham United and Watford for Onuachu’s signature after the Nigerian dominated the Belgian Pro League last season.
The 27-year-old Genk star scored a staggering 35 goals and provided five assists in all competitions last term. That attracted a ton of attention from Premier League clubs, with West Ham reportedly very keen to secure his services.

Agent: It will be nice if Arsenal make a move Onuachu
A member of Onuachu’s representative team spoke to Own Goal Nigeria about the striker’s future. His agent welcomed a bid from Arsenal, but admitted that the Gunners have initiated no contact whatsoever to sign him.
The unnamed agent said: “It will be nice if Arsenal want him as he is a boyhood fan of the team, but that is not the case at the moment. No contact has been made yet. We are only seeing it in the papers and on the internet.
“I can’t confirm anything at the moment because we are still very much at the stage of receiving and assessing offers. We will be more clear on options soon. For now, we are not confirming anything.”

The Insider’s View:
Onuachu, like all of us, is an Arsenal fan and he would love nothing more than to represent his boyhood club. However, the chances of the Gunners going out of their way to sign a striker who hasn’t had any experience in one of Europe’s top five leagues is extremely slim.
Arsenal have a lot to consider about the options Mikel Arteta has at his disposal up front. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be our main man next season, but the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are up in the air.

If both of them decide to leave Arsenal next season, we will need a new striker. Onuachu, standing at 6ft 7in tall, will offer something different to Arsenal up top and he could well be an option. However, it is extremely unlikely at this moment.
