Journalist shares Emiliano Buendia's stance on potential Arsenal move

It is no secret at this point that Arsenal are huge admirers of Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia. The Argentine playmaker has been linked with a move to the Emirates for over six months now, and it could finally materialise this summer.

Goal revealed yesterday that Edu has stepped up the chase to sign the 24-year-old. Buendia is now reportedly on top of Mikel Arteta’s wish list, especially as there are big question marks over Martin Odegaard’s future beyond the end of this season.

The report claimed that Norwich will be willing to part ways with their sensational winger if a £40 million bid iss tabled this summer. If Goal’s Arsenal correspondent, Charles Watts, is to be believed, Buendia is really keen to move to the Emirates as well.

Watts: Emiliano Buendia is keen to join Arsenal

He said on his YouTube show: “From what I understand, Emi Buendía now is very much right towards the top of that list.

“There has been no bid made to Norwich City yet for Buendía, but discussions are ongoing at Arsenal and the focus is certainly shifting towards him when it comes to potentially making an official move this summer.

“He is keen on a move to Arsenal, is my understanding. But Norwich are in a very strong position. He’s got three years left on his contract, he’s 24 years old, they’ve just been promoted to the Premier League, so it’s not like they really need the money now.

“And he’s just been called up by Argentina for the first time, so they are not going to just roll over and allow Buendía to leave for cheap. It looks like something around £40 million would be needed to really get Norwich to take notice.”

The Insider’s View:

£40 million is a lot of money but Buendia’s numbers over the last two seasons show that he could be worth every penny.

The Argentine scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists to help the Canaries achieve promotion. That is an outrageous return for a winger, and it is no surprise that Arsenal are desperate to sign him this summer.

Norwich aren’t an easy club to deal with. They will make it extremely hard for Arsenal to lure Buendia away, but it looks like we’re making a move early and that should give us enough time to negotiate a deal that would convince them to part ways with their star man.
