Neil Warnock has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are a more attractive club for players today than Arsenal.
The two North London sides’ transfer targets list has plenty of common names. The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison, Raphinha, Djed Spence, Gleison Bremer and Victor Osimhen among others have all been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham this summer.
Warnock, who is enjoying retired life now, claims that there’s not much to separate between the Gunners and Spurs at the moment, but one factor makes Tottenham the more attractive side to players – Antonio Conte.
Neil Warnock thinks Tottenham are more attractive than Arsenal
Warnock has been fairly active online ever since he joined Twitter. His latest post is about the two North London rivals, and he has explained why he feels Spurs are the more attractive side.
He wrote: “As a player, I would say Spurs are more attractive a club to join than Arsenal.
“There’s a lack of leaders at both clubs and neither can guarantee trophies.
“The difference is Conte, who gives Spurs that edge, real leadership and he is a born winner.”
The Insider’s View:
Arsene Wenger was once asked about Tottenham closing the gap on Arsenal. The legendary Frenchman famously said: “Last time I checked, they were still four miles and 11 titles away.”
That statement still stands, and it’s not going to change anytime soon.
Warnock’s comments make sense considering that Conte is among the best managers in world football. However, even the Italian could not lure Gabriel Jesus in – the Brazilian is on his way to Arsenal instead.
Conte is the only reason why there’s so much hype behind Spurs at the moment. If things go south in the first half of next season after all the money they’ve spent, Daniel Levy will likely sack him, and Tottenham fans will come back to earth then.
