It has been a few days since Arsenal suffered a heartbreaking loss against Manchester City, but fans and pundits like Rio Ferdinand still can’t stop talking about how good we were.

The Gunners absolutely rattled Pep Guardiola’s side in the first half. We were outstanding and our two wingers – Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli – were arguably the best players on the pitch.

Ferdinand labelled our first-half display as ‘the best’ he has seen in years and even went on to say that Saka and Martinelli ‘bullied’ the defending Premier League champions.

Rio Ferdinand: Saka and Martinelli scared the life out of Manchester City

The Manchester United legend raved about the Gunners while speaking on his Vibe with FIVE YouTube show.

Ferdinand said: “I have to say, the first half from Arsenal was the best I’ve seen for years.

“If that’s a sign of things to come then you guys have some good stuff coming.

“Your two wide players Bukayo Saka and Martinelli, they just bullied and scared the life out of the City team, and you played with some authority.”

TBR View:

Saka and Martinelli, like almost every other Arsenal player in the first half, were absolutely outstanding.

The energy and intensity we produced in that first half was arguably the best we’ve seen under Mikel Arteta, and it’s just a shame that we couldn’t get the win that we deserved in the end.

Saka, Martinelli and the rest should build on this now. If we could go toe-to-toe against the best team in the country like we did against City, we can beat any other side we face this season.

Hopefully, we can continue playing like we did in that first half last weekend.
