Jose Noguera, agent of Arsenal star Granit Xhaka, has hit out at ‘completely false’ quotes doing the rounds on the internet about his client’s current state of mind.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign Xhaka for AS Roma, we all know that. A deal even looked imminent at one point, but the Giallorossi refused to meet our demands and the move collapsed.

Xhaka has since signed a new contract at Arsenal. He’s clearly happy at the Emirates, but an interview conducted by CalcioMercato.it with Mario Cenolli, a man they claim is part of the Swiss international’s entourage, said the complete opposite.

Cenolli said on Xhaka: “He has great respect for Roma and Jose Mourinho. But, we must understand he still has two years on his contract with Arsenal and is very well in London. The Gunners made a proposal that pleased everyone and he happily chose to stay.

“There is some regret not to have landed at Mourinho after being his neighbour. If he had gone to Roma he would not have gone to a small one anyway, maybe we can go to the Giallorossi in four years.”

That, predictably, caused a stir among the Arsenal fan base. However, Xhaka’s real agent has come out and rubbished those rumours by claiming that Cenolli has no connection to the midfielder whatsoever.

Agent: Claims from Italy about Granit Xhaka are false

Noguera told Football London: “These quotes are completely false. The person has no connection to the management of Granit Xhaka and is not the agent of Granit.

“It is true that we were speaking with Roma this summer. But, Granit has repeatedly said that he is happy at Arsenal and the truth is that he always wanted to stay at the club. He has played for Arsenal since 2016, won two FA Cup trophies, reached a European final and played over 200 games for the club.

“Those within football have always spoken about Granit’s leadership qualities and his professionalism. He wants to achieve more success with Arsenal and is fully focused on achieving those goals.”

This is a reminder to fans to stop believing everything they see on the internet. Some people just love to spread hate, which is a shame as the one thing you can never doubt about Xhaka is his commitment to Arsenal.
