Tottenham have lived up to the term ‘Spursy’ yet again, but this time, off the pitch.
After Serie A champion Antonio Conte told them to leave him alone, it looked like they were closing in on former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca. If a latest report is to be believed, he has pulled out as well. (The Athletic)
Nobody wants to manage little Tottenham and frankly, we don’t blame them.
Spurs are now reportedly closing in on a deal to appoint AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso. The Italian left Fiorentina this morning – just 23 days after he was appointed as La Viola’s new manager.
The Athletic claim that the legendary Italian will be the new Tottenham boss and just like every Spurs fan who dreams of Arsenal at night, Gattuso too likes to think about the mighty Gunners when he goes to bed.
Just before Gattuso’s Milan faced Arsenal in the Europa League back in 2018, the Italian opened up about his admiration for Arsene Wenger. After a few nice words about the legendary Frenchman, he admitted that he dreams of one Gunners star when he went to bed every night.

He said, as per Football London: “He’s (Wenger) won so much in his career, he’s been managing the same club for 21-22 years. My path is still very long. Compared to Wenger I’m in the children’s team, I’m just starting and he’s been coaching for 30 years.”
“The worry is how to stop Arsenal scoring. When I go to bed, I dream of (Mesut) Ozil. We’ll have to do well not to suffer from what they do.”
The Insider’s View:
Ozil is no longer at Arsenal but it’s good to know that he’s still haunting Tottenham. Spurs fans never really liked the German but it’s funny that their new manager loves him so much that it keeps him up at night.
During his playing days, Gattuso was a phenomenal midfielder. He was a real leader and his time as a manager at Milan and Napoli showed that he brought that same leadership onto the touchline.
However, he’s not really an elite manager, is he? Gattuso has won just 130 out of the 287 games he has managed in his career so far. He averages just 1.62 points per game – that’s worse than what Unai Emery averaged (1.85) during his dismal time at Arsenal. (Transfermarkt)
If he wants our advice, Gattuso should just go back to bed. Dreaming about Ozil is a lot more enjoyable than being associated with Tottenham, just ask Jose Mourinho.
