According to Goal and Football London, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has decided that Konstantinos Dinos Mavropanos has no place in his squad for next season.

The Greek international, signed by Arsene Wenger in 2018, has spent the last 18 months on loan. He impressed everyone at FC Nurnberg in the final six months of the 2019/20 campaign, and that earned him a move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

Mavropanos has been a real star at the Mercedes Benz Arena. He has been one of their best players over the last eight months, and Arsenal fans were really excited to see him back in the famous red and white.

However, it looks like Arteta has no interest in keeping him. The Arsenal boss is focused on bringing Ben White in from Brighton and Mavropanos, labelled as ‘top-quality‘ by Wenger in 2018, will be pushed out of the door as a result.

Arsenal will sell Mavropanos for just £7m

Both reports claim that negotiations between Arsenal and Stuttgart are at an advanced stage at the moment. Mavropanos is on the verge of joining the Schwabenmetropole on a permanent deal – for just £7 million.

That has raised a few eyebrows among Arsenal supporters. Yes, Dinos is not the greatest centre-half in the world, but surely he’s worth more than £7 million.

He’s still only 23, he has been a regular for Stuttgart for the better part of a year, he’s a full Greek international now and he still has two full years left on his Arsenal contract. Those factors alone warrant a bigger fee, and the figure should go even higher when you consider how good he has been over the last few months.

Arsenal are terrible sellers

Apart from Alex Iwobi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s sales to the two Merseyside clubs, Arsenal haven’t sold anyone for big money. That’s a shocking record when you consider some of the figures our rivals have managed.

Liverpool have been the masters in recent years, while Manchester United and Chelsea have been very good as well. You would’ve thought that Arsenal would have learnt a thing or two from these clubs, but evidently not.

Apart from selling Mavropanos for just £7 million, Arsenal are set to pocket less than £30 million combined for Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi. That makes things even worse, but there’s no sign of change whatsoever.
