After years of scratching around looking for the right player, Arsenal have finally found their striker.

Indeed, Viktor Gyokeres has signed for Arsenal, and many are hoping that the Swedish striker can be the answer to the Gunners’ prayers.

Arsenal had looked at numerous strikers in recent times before settling on Gyokeres.

Ivan Toney was an Arsenal target, while Arsenal bid for Ollie Watkins in January.

Benjamin Sesko was strongly linked to Arsenal too, and according to Miguel Delaney, speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, Sesko genuinely thought he was signing for Arsenal this summer.

Now, Sesko is being linked with both Newcastle and Manchester United after missing out on a move to the Emirates.

Benjamin Sesko thought he was joining Arsenal

Delaney shared what he knows about Sesko’s situation amid his links to Newcastle and United.

The journalist reckons United could end up forcing through a move for Sesko, while claiming that the £70m-rated striker was expecting to join Arsenal up until early June.

“If Garnacho were to go to Chelsea, as is basically the mood since January, it does suddenly make that a lot easier for Manchester United, who would have much less difficulty in going all in for Sesko. But yeah, right now, there’s a lot of brinkmanship, a lot of kind of posturing,” Delaney said.

“It does feel like it’s one of those that’s going to be forced ahead. Because I think with Sesko as well, you do wonder how much what’s happened earlier this summer is influencing him, because I think up until early June he expected to go to Arsenal.”

Benjamin Sesko compared to Viktor Gyokeres

Sesko expected to join Arsenal earlier this summer, but, ultimately, Andrea Berta and co ended up going for Viktor Gyokeres instead.

Arsenal have ended their hunt for a striker in signing Gyokeres, and, when you look at the stats, it’s easy to see why Arsenal picked Gyokeres over Sesko.

Of course, Sesko is younger and more proven in a better league – the Bundesliga.

However, in terms of pure output, Gyokeres does outdo Sesko by some margin, and, ultimately, that’s what Arsenal are paying for.
