Viktor Gyokeres reportedly prefers a move to AC Milan this summer despite rumours that Arsenal are scouting the striker.

The Sporting Lisbon star has been one of the best players in Europe this season, with Gyokeres bagging an astonishing 32 goals in all competitions since moving to Portugal from Coventry City.

As you can expect, such form has attracted some major Premier League interest, with Arsenal reportedly scouting Gyokeres as the Gunners look to sign a world-class striker in the summer.

However, according to GiveMeSport, Gyokeres actually prefers a move to Italian giants Milan, with Serie A catching the £80m-rated Swedish international’s eye ahead of a potential exit from Sporting this summer.

With Milan expected to cash in on Rafael Leao, signing Gyokeres could be a financially achievable move for the Rossoneri, who are in need of a top new striker to lead the line as much as Arsenal.

And with the former Championship star now more open to a move to the San Siro than the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal could end up losing the race for Gyokeres to European rivals Milan.

Indeed, Gyokeres heading to Italy with Milan would be viewed by many as quite the surprising move, yet Arsenal need to ensure that they have other options to look at in the market this summer if they do miss out on the Swede.

Arsenal can sign a striker more suited to Mikel Arteta’s style of play

Whilst Gyokeres’ goalscoring record this season is nothing short of extraordinary, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are fully aware that they need someone who is more than just a finisher.

Based off the signing of Gabriel Jesus two years ago, it’s clear that Arsenal want a striker who can hold up the play and link the wingers and midfielders into the attack whilst also providing goals of their own.

And this is something Gyokeres might struggle to do, with the Sporting star clearly establishing himself as an incredible finish with the system behind him catered to his every need.
