It’s no secret at this point that Arsenal are really keen to sign Brighton and Hove Albion star Ben White.
The Gunners have had a couple of bids rejected for the 23-year-old, but rumours this morning revealed that the Seagulls have finally accepted a £50 million offer to part ways with their star man.
That excited Arsenal supporters, who are desperate to see the club sign someone this summer. However, it looks like the rumour from this morning wasn’t exactly accurate.
The Argus claim today that they contacted a well-placed Brighton source to confirm if a bid has actually been accepted. The source reportedly dismissed the rumours by calling them ‘absolute rubbish’.
The report goes on to say that Brighton are in no hurry whatsoever to sell White. The Englishman is reportedly attracting considerable interest from other clubs now, and that should worry Arsenal fans, who were all led to believe that it was only a matter of time before this deal would be completed.
Can Arsenal convince Brighton to sell Ben White?
It really did look like talks were progressing between the two clubs and that a deal was indeed imminent. However, reports over the last two days have revealed that other Premier League clubs have joined the race for the Englishman’s signature.
The Transfer Window podcast revealed that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have held preliminary talks with Brighton over a deal for White, while Duncan Castles revealed on the same podcast that Chelsea are now interested as well.
The Sun claimed over the weekend that Rafa Benitez’s Everton are also keen to sign the Englishman, who will not be short of offers this summer.
However, Football London have claimed today that the Gunners are still in the driving seat for White. They claim that a deal is all but done and the versatile defender will be an Arsenal player once he returns from Euro 2020.
