West Ham United could lose a number of their star players after getting relegated from the Premier League.

Mateus Fernandes was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but it looks like he is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United now.

The Gunners have superior targets in midfield now, but they are still on the lookout for offensive reinforcements.

One new name has now emerged out of the rumour mill – Crysencio Summerville.

Arsenal have ‘officially joined’ the race to sign Crysencio Summerville

Summerville was one of West Ham United’s better players despite their relegation last season.

The Dutch international directly contributed to 12 goals in 34 games in all competitions, and his performances have caught the eye of several clubs.

Foot Mercato have now claimed that Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham are all keen to sign him this summer.

Another club that has ‘officially joined’ the race to sign him is Premier League champions Arsenal.

West Ham’s asking price for Summerville before the World Cup was €50 million, but that figure could go up now.

That is because of his performances for the Netherlands against Japan and Sweden, as well as the amount of interest in his signature.

Due to the increase in asking price, clubs in Italy like AS Roma and AC Milan have given up their pursuit of Summerville.

All signs now point towards a move to a Premier League club, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be the ones to make an offer.

Arsenal should be aiming for a lot higher than Crysencio Summerville

Summerville is a terrific player, and he could still go on to become a star.

However, Arsenal, being the Premier League champions and Champions League runners-up, should be aiming for someone significantly better.

After being linked with players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Morgan Rogers, ending up with Summerville would feel really underwhelming.

As good as the Dutch star is, we think he isn’t even as good as Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard.

For that reason, Arsenal should stay away from Summerville and sign someone better.
