Arsenal are expected to be very active in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with several big names already, and fans are dreaming of new attackers before the start of next season.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal have made direct contact with the agents of Morgan Rogers regarding a summer move.

Now, the same journalist has claimed that the North London giants are speaking to another player’s camp as well.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are speaking to people close to Sandro Tonali

Although all eyes will be on a new attacker, Arsenal have a decision to make in the middle of the park too.

The Gunners overplayed Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi last season, and that led to a drop in form, especially in the latter.

Myles Lewis-Skelly stepped up and saved Arsenal’s season in the final weeks, but is he the long-term midfield solution? Or do the Premier League champions sign someone else?

Time will tell, but Andrea Berta is keeping his options open and is in discussions with many players, including Tonali.

The Newcastle United star could be on the move this summer, and Romano has claimed that Manchester City view him as a target if they can’t get Elliot Anderson.

But City face competition from the Gunners.

Romano said on YouTube: “Another club really appreciating Sandro Tonali is Arsenal.

“Arsenal also like Tonali. Arsenal also have been in contact with people close to Tonali. So there is also Arsenal’s interest in Sandro Tonali.”

What is the maximum fee Arsenal should pay to sign Sandro Tonali?

Signing Sandro Tonali could create a big problem at Arsenal

Tonali is a magnificent player, there is no debate there.

The Italian has all the characteristics that you would want in a midfielder, and the fact that he has Premier League experience makes him a good option.

However, signing Tonali will raise questions over the futures of Zubimendi as well as Lewis-Skelly, who played ever so well in that role in the final games of the season.

Having so many players in the same position where only two of them can start will cause problems.

It remains to be seen how Mikel Arteta will solve it if it does happen next season.
